Remembering Martin Luther King Jr.
I rarely discuss anything outside of sports on this blog, but wanted to devote a little bit of space to Martin Luther King Jr. since it is his day today.
Obviously, we should do our best to remember him 365 days a year, and try to advance his dreams of treating everyone equally with love and respect. Without his work, the civil rights movement probably wouldn't have been what it was.
So take a moment to read up on some of his accomplishments, or watch his "I have a dream..." speech. It's a powerful reminder of where we've come from, and just how much farther we can go.

Peter Boulware Wants Your House!
Peter Boulware has become the latest athlete to run for political office after ending his professional playing career. Today he announced that he's running for the House seat currently held by Loranne Ausley.
Former Florida State University defensive end Peter Boulware, who went on to a standout career for the NFL's Baltimore Ravens, said Monday that he is a Republican candidate for a Tallahassee-area seat now held by term-limited Democrat Rep. Loranne Ausley.
"I care deeply about the issues facing Florida and the Panhandle, and I believe that I can be a strong voice for the residents of our community and make a difference in public service," said Boulware, who now is a vice-president of a Tallahassee car dealership and regularly featured in its television ads.
Three Democrats are already in the race to succeed Ausley in the decidedly Democratic district. Among them is Michelle Rehwinkel Vasilinda, wife of television newscaster Mike Vasilinda.
Boulware does have his work cut out for him as a Republican running in a district that hovers around 55% Democrat. Though, it will be interesting to see how many of the voters remember his days as a leader on the FSU football team, and cast their vote for him.
