It's 5 O'Clock Somewhere - You Wish You Were This Good At Something Edition

Since it's Friday, and the end of the workweek for most people, we think that you should be provided with a post that takes the edge off so to speak. Because it's going to be random and hopefully humorous, that means that it won't always be sports related. It will also pop up at any time on Friday.

You know how when you see an athlete do something on the field it sometimes makes you wish that you were as good at something, anything, as they are at their sport? Well, this video is like that. Let me tell you, I surf decently, and I can snowboard 'ok', but me and skateboarding never really seemed to get along. Rodney Mullen on the other hand? He pretty much makes skateboarding his bitch. Watch and appreciate/envy/cry, or whatever else it causes you to do.

If Tony Hawk Had A Twin He Would Have Taken Over The World

Tony Hawk is probably the most recognizable skateboarder ever. Can you imagine if he had a twin? They would have ruled halfpipes and empty swimming pools all over the world. Instead, we got only one Tony Hawk, and his Birdhouses and video games. However, we do get two Puehse skateboarders, and they're looking to take the skate world by storm.

With tremendous talent, Nic and Tristan Puehse (pronounced PEW-zah) of Shingle Springs, Calif., outside Sacramento, have become a grass-roots marketing phenomenon. Their ability has taken them to China and onto “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.” They have 14 sponsors, including Nike and Gatorade. And they are the stars of one of the most popular skateboarding videos on YouTube, a clip that has been viewed more than 2.5 million times since it was posted in January.

Of course they couldn't do this without support from their parents, but the father comes across a little Marv Marinovich-ish.

None of this would have been possible without the support of their father, Michael, a man with a vision, a video camera and a marketing plan.

“If they continue to progress like they’re doing, there’s no doubt they’re going to be pro,” said Michael Puehse, who has helped his sons’ careers by sending videotapes of the boys to potential sponsors since they were 6.

Oh well, with any luck we'll see them kicking ass in the X-Games in future years, and not losing their shoes on a crazy jump attempt. Besides, seeing them skating in unison is a bit mezmorizing, though it's also a little freaky.

This week's 5 o'clock somewhere post is brought to you by Jake Brown and his set of giant, steel balls. Seriously, when you're in first place, and still attempt a run like this you have to be equipped with 'em. I know that no matter how much alcohol I consume this weekend whatever hangover I wake up with will pale in comparison to what Mr. Brown must have felt like as he walked off the halfpipe. Jake, you sir are a badass.

Rob Dyrdek Shows Us All How To Make It Rain

I really don't know how this "Makin' It Rain" fad has seemed to just recently blow up. I could have sworn that it was being rapped about a number of years ago. Perhaps Pacman Jones' love for makin' it rain, and his subsequent arrest has catapulted its popularity. Anyway, in this clip we get to see a great of example how to "make it rain". Pro skater Rob Dyrdek won a $5,000 bet against his friend Steve Berra at this year's Tampa Pro, and true to his word, climbed on top of the halfpipe and rained down ones on the crowd below(press play and fast forward until there's about 1:40 left). Amazingly, no one was shot or injured(as far as I know). Are you taking notes Pacman?



Oh yeah, if you haven't seen the Rob & Big show on MTV you should check it out. I think it's the best thing MTV has produced TV-wise in quite a while.
